PROPOSAL: WELLNESS DAY ACTIVITIES!

AIMS OF INTERVENTION:

  • AIMS:
  • To provide performances or interactive activities related to the theme of wellness
  • To create a stress-free environment that promotes holistic well-being
  • To educate delegates on relevant wellness topics and provide them with self-help tools to manage stress thereby contributing to enhancing productivity and sustainability of the business

CONCEPT: “The Wellness Experience”

  • Allow delegates to experience the theme of wellness through the five senses: hear, see, feel, smell and taste.

STALLS:

All stalls will be manned by a practitioner who will be able to answer questions from delegates.

SOUND THERAPY: This stall will include yoga mats where participants will be provided with blindfolds and earphones playing calming music and using guided imagery. The stall will be run by a music therapist.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE: Massage therapists will provide basic head and shoulder massages to delegates.

AROMATHERAPY: The use of aromatic plant extracts and essential oils for healing, relaxation and sense of well-being. Enhanced mood and general feeling of well-being. Improves blood and lymphatic circulation and balance of hormone production b y the endocrine system.

MENDHI/HENNA ARTIST: Provides artistic impressions on hands and feet using mendhi.

NEW*FINANCIAL WELLNESS: We will offer the services of a property finance consultant from SA Home Loans to do comparative interest rate assessments and look at debt consolidation options to create more disposable income.

REFLEXOLOGY TREATMENTS: The application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands and ears. Reflexologists believe that these areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, where pressure on these points has a beneficial effect on general health and wellbeing.

STRETCHING AND BREATHING: Controlled breathing encourages mental alertness, a sense of calmness and allows oxygen to reach the blood stream more readily. With age the muscles of the body have a tendency to shorten. Unless these muscles are stretched regularly, this can lead to poor posture, decreased range of motion, muscle stiffness and other problems. Self-help stretching exercises taught to improve work-desk posture.

INSTANT RELAXATION: A method of relaxation that focuses the mind on positive images in an attempt to reduce stress and tension. Incorporates focused muscle relaxation and guided visualization.

LAUGHTER THERAPY: (Hasyayoga) is a practice involving prolonged voluntary laughter. Laughter yoga is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Laughter yoga is done in groups, with eye contact and playfulness between participants. Forced laughter soon turns into real and contagious laughter.

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE: EFT a simple self-help, acupressure technique to promote release of emotional blockages and anxieties. This session will be facilitated by an EFT Practitioner and Wellness Coach (seehttp://eft.mercola.com/) TIME: 30 min

MINDFULNESS WORKSHOP: Scientific research has conclusively proven the organisational benefits of mindfulness programs; leading to improved focus, creativity and physical & emotional well-being thereby reducing harmful stress. Incorporating guided imagery and relaxation techniques, participants learn how to bring one’s awareness fully into the present moment, connecting to a natural sense of inner stillness, clarity and positivity.

AYURVEDIC TALK: A 5000 year old system of natural healing that has it’s origins in the Vedic culture of India. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depends on a delicate balance between mind, body and spirit. The primary focus is to promote good health rather than fight disease.

HIGH-ENERGY INTERACTIVE SESSIONS:

ZUMBA: Aerobic fitness programme featuring movements in spired by various s tyles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music. Health benefits include enhanced coordination, relaxation and stress relief.

INTERACTIVE DRUMMING: Alchemical drumming can be used for stress relief and to create an environment promoting well-being.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS:

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS: Light cardio workout that helps increase coordination and confidence. Classes focus on self-defence techniques including hand and leg-striking as well as incorporating elements of dance.

CAPOEIRA WORKSHOP: Ancient Brazilian art-form incorporating martial arts and dance. Helps develop core skills of co-ordination, strength, flexibility and stamina. Includes an introduction to capoeira footwork and teaching of a Capoeira sequence of linked movements with a partner.

Tai Chi: Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Tai chi, also called tai chi chuan, is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.

FLUTE-MAKING WORKSHOP Facilitate by a reknowned jazz musician, delegates will be taught how to make their own flutes using solid white pipes (telecommunications cable). 2 groups of 15 participants with 30 min workshops (1 hour).

ART-CLASS: A visual artist will teach the group to create soft pastel art pieces around the theme of wellness serving as a therapeutic activity whilst allowing for reflection and interpretation of their works. Easels and pastels will be provided. 2 groups of 15 participants with 30 min workshops. (1 hour)

APPLIED THEATRE: A wellness play addressing a relevant wellness can be performed for delegates e.g. HIV/AIDS Awareness or TB Prevention. Theatre offers the ability to convey an educational message, create an emotional connection to the material as well as transcend language barriers. TIME: 30 – 45 min

GUEST SPEAKERS: GUEST SPEAKERS:

JUICE BAR: The largest of the four stalls, the “chill zone” will offer guests fresh fruit juices and smoothies, as well as nutritional information on beverages. Water coolers can be located in this area.

BIOKINETICIST: Assessment, fitness test results and suggested exercise program

INTERACTIVE SPORTS ACTIVITIES:

VOLLEYBALL/BADMINTON: With adequate space required, team volleyball/badminton can be setup to promote a fun, interactive activity for staff.

TEAM TABLE-TENNIS: A table tennis court can be setup for a team table tennis tournament

MOBILE PUTT PUTT: Mobile Putt Putt brings the great fun and relaxation to your wellness day. We set-up prior to the start of your event on an even surface which can be adapted to an interior space .

TABLE SOCCER: Team table-top game that allows for fun and interaction indoors or outdoors

NEW*** BUBBLE SOCCER: Zorb football (bubbleball or bubble soccer) - is the recreation or sport of playing football whilst encased in an inflated zorb which covers the play er's upper-body and head.
