RODNEY FRANK
Rodney Frank has over 10 year experience within the corporate world. His roles over the past decade has seen him fulfill roles in property finance and management roles for SA Home Loans. He then went on to become the sales and marketing manager for a franchise of Old Mutual. In the last few years in corporate he became the business development manager of a BBBEE firm and the regional director of Forex Varsity Durban.
During his career, he co-founded his first company, Shizaya Drums in 2007, now trading Shizaya Productions which is an events management, entertainment, team building and bubble soccer company. This is when his love for community development grew. The company sourced hidden talent from underprivileged communities, and created a platform for these young artists to perform on a professional stage. In 2012 he co-founded Vision in Motion which is an organisational development training consultancy specialising in diversity, leadership, wellness and team effectiveness training interventions. The companies’ interactive, learner-centred workshops are guided by an experiential learning method that mobilizes music, applied theatre and cultural arts activities in learning about human interaction at work.
Some of their clientele are the biggest blue chip companies in South Africa. The company also host interactive wellness day for their clients and have become one of the first companies to incorporate wellness activities into their training workshops. Rodney has over seven years training in the performing arts and has been playing percussion instruments for over thirteen years. He is passionate about transformation in South Africa and facilitates diversity training workshops for UKZN, SA Taxi and Barrows. The company's mission is to create inclusive work environments based on strong human values that cherish the diverse backgrounds of their people and strive towards the idea of a common humanity.
HANNAH MANGENDA
Hannah Mangenda (BA, BA (Hons), MA) enjoys wearing many hats – among others those of facilitator, academic, teacher, actress, marketer and manager of various events – and likes to draw out and foster an awareness of interconnectedness and a unity of vision wherever she is involved. She is therefore highly interested in the intersection of communication, training, and the arts and the ways in which they can reinforce each other.
Apart from her varied professional experience in basic and higher education as well as corporate settings, Ms Mangenda has also had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in effective communication in her marriage of more than ten years and as a mother to three – very communicative - children. .
Her special interest lies in how communication in various settings can be improved through interactive and creative methods that foster community building and enable participants to look at a situation from a fresh perspective. It is this holistic view of the envisioned outcomes and her extensive professional experience that have made her a long-time collaborator with Vision in Motion and Shizaya Productions.
Adv. MAHOMED VAHED
MAHOMED VAHED holds a Master’s Degree in Law and has 20 years of diverse legal experience. He was a Magistrate, a practicing Advocate and a University Law Lecturer. He also has 15 years of Islamic Banking experience, the last five years as an Executive. Adv. Vahed now pursues his passion as a Mind Change Consultant working closely with corporates in the fields of diversity management, soft skills and ethics and corruption.
He is passionate about empowering the youth and conducts workshops at schools and especially schools catering for the disabled. He also runs the Young Leaders Academy mentoring and up skilling leaders of the future.
Adv. Vahed has coordinated an Islamic Finance, Banking and Law course at tertiary institutions for many years. He is a prolific writer having authored twelve books with his last two on Public Speaking. He is the co-founder of a Public Speaking Academy. They train educators, learners, religious leaders and corporates on the art of public speaking. His hobbies are sport in general and scuba diving in particular.
Dr CECILE PROCHES
Dr Cecile Gerwel Proches is a senior lecturer in the Graduate School of Business and Leadership at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). She holds a PhD (UKZN), MCom (Leadership Studies) (UKZN), BCom Hons (Industrial and Organisational Psychology) (NMMU), and BCom (UPE). Dr Proches is involved in lecturing in the Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership (PGDLD).
She also supervises the research projects of Master’s students - in Leadership Studies (coursework and 100% research) as well as the Master of Business Administration (MBA). Her research, supervisory and consulting interests include leadership, organisational behaviour, training and development, systems thinking and complexity theory. Dr Proches has presented at various national and international conferences, and has published a number of articles in academic journals.
MONDLI MBAMBO
Mondli is a passionate project management professional and practitioner. He holds a Masters Degree in Project Leadership and Management. Mondli is a Project Manager by choice, not by chance. He has worked with various consulting firms as their Project Management Specialist and has been facilitating Project Management lectures for the past 11 years.
He sees lecturing as the strategic platform to share real-life case studies on various projects that he has worked on. Mondli is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), a Professional member for Project Management South Africa (PMSA) where he has also served as the President of KwaZulu-Natal region from 2013 to 2017.
Dr SHAMIM BODHANYA
Dr Shamim Bodhanya has an engineering degree, an MBA and a PhD. He is a consultant, researcher, facilitator, and keynote speaker that draws on inter-disciplinary research to work with complex real-world problems. He is recognised internationally as an expert in systems thinking and complex adaptive systems, with over 14 years of industrial experience followed by 16 years of academic, consulting, and training expertise.
Shamim is the Editor of Large Scale Systemic Change: Theories, Modelling and Practices, published by Nova Science in 2016. Shamim has trained several hundred delegates in leadership and related topics over a period spanning 18 years. He is currently focussed on the application of systems thinking and the development of system dynamic models to help companies, government institutions and other organisations to improve their strategic orientation and effectiveness amidst a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world. This encompasses both strategic and operational components.
Shamim is an independent consultant, a founding partner at the Leadership Dialogue and, Chairman of the Institute of Natural Resources (INR).
DAWN HARRISON
PHILOSOPHY:Knowledge is power; cultivate and work towards a rainbow nation of “production instead of consumption” by empowering people in South Africa to take ownership for and of themselves through education, empowerment and discussion.
OBJECTIVES:Motivate, restore and heal through education and discussion within any given context and in collaboration work towards building community and a nation in which every race, culture, gender and creed can live life through individuation by identifying every person’s strengths, cognitively working through weaknesses, bias and prejudice.
PASSION:Empowering, building a nation of peoples in which we all are proud to belong through effective discourse.
